Filing Day Three.....the Storm

A lot of candidates bring their families with them on filing day. The Weese family from Wagoner County was no different. Dennis and Rae brought their son Luke to the capitol with them this afternoon. I met Dennis and Rae at the National Convention in Boston in 2004 and met Luke last year. They are quite active in CD1 and Wagoner County. Today was Dennis and Rae's wedding anniversary. Today Dennis filed for Senate District 36. The seat is open since Scott Pruitt is running for Lt. Governor. Ever the dapper gentleman, Dennis watched as his bride Rae filed papers for House District 98 against John Trebilcock. The couple said they just couldn't see letting any Republican get a free ride into the legislature so decided they would do their part to provide a Democratic presence in their home districts. Thanks to the Weese family!

(Sam Homan, Wagoner County Democratic Party chairman, stopped by the ODP HQ today. He's getting excited about their annual Legislative Appreciation Dinner next week. Sam puts on a great event and I'm looking forward to attending. Gov. Brad Henry will be the keynote for this event.)

June Cash filed today against Phil Richardson in HD 56. Cash is from shortgrass country, from Hobart, and we visited briefly about people there we both know and are related to, but mostly we talked about where the campaign goes from here. Cash will certainly give Richardson a run for his money! Good luck and thanks June!
