FEC: Republican Tom Coburn Campaign Committed Violations

The Federal Election Commission says Republican Senator Tom Coburn's 2004 campaign violated federal campaign laws. An FEC audit says the campaign accepted more money than allowed from political action committees, failed to file last-minute contribution reports and didn't provide required information on nearly 20 percent of individual contributors. The audit did not say if the FEC will ask for fines against the campaign. A spokesman for Coburn says the campaign does not contest the findings and has taken steps to make sure it complies with federal laws.
