ODP Constitutional and Bylaws Amendments

Several Democrats have contacted me recently about submitting amendments to the ODP Constitution and/or Bylaws.

If you have a proposed amendment please submit it via email to our ODP State Secretary Walter Jenny, Jr. at wjenny@oklahoma.net by April 19th. Amendments received by April 19th will be included in the State Convention Call to the delegates.

Article XII of the ODP Constitution provides that constitutional amendments require the affirmative vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members present and voting at a regularly called meeting of the State Convention. Amendments to the bylaws requires the affirmative vote of a majority of the members present and voting at a regularly called meeting of the State convention.

Article XII further provides that printed copies of any proposed amendment shall have been mailed to every member of the State Convention by the State Secretary at least twenty (20) days prior to the day of the meeting (for 2007 our meeting is May 19th.)

Amendments shall become effective immediately unless otherwise stated after the amendment. The State Secretary is instructed to make and preserve a verbatim transcript of the motions and debate on any proposed amendment to the Constitution and Bylaws.
