The Tulsa County Party held a day of candidate training Saturday, followed by a Flag Day Celebration that filled the Pipeliners Union Hall in Tulsa. Patti Basnett, Kalyn Free and others put on a great program, and several union locals pitched in on the food.
Special guest was California Congressman Mike Honda, Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee. He also attended the Carl Albert Dinner Friday night in Oklahoma City. Scott BigHorse and the Osage Singers also performed, and Sharon King Davis led the audience in the national anthem.
Dr. and Mrs. Hunter were there, along with Will Andrews and Jane Luttrell from central Oklahoma. Sue Barton was there running for Third District Congress, as was Alan Gentges running for Congress from the First District. Others were Lloyd Fields and Frank Shurden, Jari Askins and Pete Regan, Cody Graves, Jeff McMahan, and a boatload of House and Senate candidates. Jim Frasier, Betty McElderry, Jay Parmley and Kalyn Free -- all four of our DNC Oklahomans -- were also there, as well as Debbie Hogue Downing from the Fifth Congressional District.
The Tulsa County Democrats put on a great program. Congratulations!
Best,
Walt

Congratulations to Tulsa County Democratic Party and INDN's List for a great day of training and celebration.
And thanks to Congressman Honda for coming to Oklahoma for the event. He also serves as vicechairman of the DNC. Oklahoma actually has four elected DNC members and two appointed members for a total of six. Jim Frasier and Betty McElderry are electedas Oklahoma National Committeeman and National Committeewoman. As chairman and vicechairman Ben Odom and I also serve as elected members to the DNC. Last year DNC chairman Howard Dean appointed Kalyn Free and Jay Parmley as At-Large delegates to the DNC. That makes us have six voting members from a small red state.
