Still Waiting
Key Point: After positive developments in Iraq, the American people are still waiting to hear when Iraq will be safe enough for our troops to leave and for President Bush to announce his plans to visit again.
Iraq
All Americans are pleased with positive developments in Iraq. Now they are waiting to see the results.
The American people are confused. President Bush's commanders keep hinting at withdrawing troops, but as recently as last month the president sent in more troops into Iraq.
Even after his trip to Baghdad, the president still has not told the American people the remaining political, military, and economic objectives that must be met in order for success in Iraq.
The president must put aside political theater and tell the American people his plan to make 2006 a year of transition, so that America can leave Iraq and address the new and growing threats around the world.
